Self Love and the Silhouette

There are really only two things that make YOUR dress perfect for YOU. One I can help you figure out. The other is up to you! It really all comes down to Self Love and the Silhouette.

Your job: SELF LOVE

It is so important to remember that no matter what dress you put on, YOU are still YOU in a wedding dress. Your C cups boobs will look very different than the A cup model on Pinterest. You will be dancing, drinking, and relaxing in your gown, NOT posing all day. And you will NOT look like that retouched Instagram model. And we don’t want to! That bitch is retouched anyway!

(For the record, Loulette Bride photos are NEVER retouched. Not on my watch!)

So, the most important thing is to come on in with normal expectations of your gorgeous self. Love every curve, arm jiggle, and the gut you got, because it is what makes you human. And you are god damn gorgeous as is.

That all said, the Silhouette is a magical tool that will ENHANCE the perfect shape you already have. That’s where I come in!

My job: SILHOUETTE

At your Loulette Bride appointment, I listen to you, sure, but I also make you try stuff you may not picked out for yourself. Most of the time, y’all come in asking for “something simple” and leave with my Jasmin Gown, so ya just never know!

There are really 5 main silhouettes here at Loulette we want to run through, to see what works for your shape:

Full A-Line: An a-line is our fullest gown we make, which means it comes out from the waist, and just keeps on going to create a nice, full skirt. It cinches the teeniest, tiniest part of your natural waist, and creates, in my opinion, the most universally flattering silhouette there is. Some of our a-lines are our Carolina, DollyStevieCarmen, JasminCasablanca, and Nala! A-lines give you NO cling from your waist down, so if you have ANY gut insecurities (trust me, you’re not alone!) than an a-line is your best friend.

Soft A-Line: She has a full skirt like an a-line, but fits a little most tightly through the waist and hip before she flares out. She is a super effortless silhouette, that still gives you all the comfort of an a-line, with a little extra hip-hugging action. Soft a-lines would be out Cyndi and Taryn gowns.

Empire: An empire waist goes a little above your natural waist to give you a looser fit along the waist line. Our empire gowns are Rita and Camille, and we make those with a soft a-line skirt that flows gorgeously away from your hips and creates an incredibly flattering shape.

Sheath: Also known as a “column",” your sheath is a fitted silhouette that is fitted along the waist and hip, and comes straight down from the hip. So she gives you a little booty hug, but not a ton. While a sheath CAN be tight along your hips, it doesn’t mean it’s skin tight and unforgiving. Our Sabrina, Sasha, Gwen, and Ella are all sheath style, meaning they fall straight from your hip down to the floor, even though they have some extra flattering drape action. Our GiselleJoni, Billie, and Aliyah are also in the sheath fam!

Fit and Flare: If you want to show off your ASSets as much as possible, than a fit and flare is your girl! Unlike a sheath, a fit and flare hugs below your booty to emphasize your hips, and flares out again at the hem to create that VA VA VOOM. Our fit and flares would be our Rivera, Reverie, and Wythe!

Once we nail down the skirt shape, we can always play with the neckline and sleeves to see what feels right for you! Each body is different and perfect in it’s own way, so that’s why we customize whatever little thang you want to make sure your dress is flattering you in all the right places.

Can’t wait to meet you at your appointment! And bring that Self Love with ya!
