Pro Tips for the Best Bridal Appointment
Wedding dress shopping can be a whirlwind of emotions; it’s exciting and tons of fun, but can also get to be overwhelming. In order to ensure your appointment is as awesome as possible, we’ve put together a few tips for you and the crew you bring along!
Browse Your Options
When you’ve decided on a spot to go shopping, it’s a good idea to browse the boutique’s collection through their site or social media. While your preferences will likely shift slightly (or a lot!) once you’re able to try dresses on in person, pick a few styles out that you want to start with. And remember: variety is key! Do your best to see all your options, then you can narrow it down!
Who's Invited?
When sending out invites to your appointments, we say less is more. Besides the fact that COVID has most boutiques limiting guest count, sticking with “quality over quantity” will keep you from having to navigate so many opinions and emotions. We recommend bringing along people you know will contribute encouraging vibes, positive input, and keep the focus on celebrating YOU!
What to Bring
Besides your besties, there are a couple things that would be helpful to have with you for your appointment.
First thing: TIME! The production time of made-to-order gowns varies slightly between stores, but having 8-12 months before your wedding day will keep you from having to pay rush fees and will avoid lots of stress.
Next up: a budget. Most boutiques will have their prices, or a least a price range, listed for their gowns.
To wear: nude-colored underwear. Don't worry about a bra or bringing shoes, most sample gowns will fit best without a bra, and shoes can make it harder to get in and out of the dresses. You could also bring a hair tie or clip if you’re considering wearing your hair up for the big day, as well as a necklace or earrings if that will help you envision your full bridal look.
