What to do with my Loulette gown after my wedding?

There are plenty of options post wedding as far as what to do with your Loulette gown. Some brides might re-purpose, some donate or sell, and some want to hang on to their special dress! Whatever you are thinking, we are giving you ALL the info you need to move forward post “I do”.

How do I clean this magical gown!?

We highly recommend researching and finding a professional dry cleaner who specializes in wedding dresses! We suggest Cameo Cleaners, Natural Cleaners, Jeeves. The sooner you bring your dress after your wedding date, the better! Any decent dry cleaner should be able to handle your Loulette Bride dress. If your dress has beading, metallic thread, 3D fabric flowers, fringe, or anything that is more delicate, ask specifically if they are able to handle your dress specifically.

What even IS wedding dress preservation?

Gown Preservation is the next step after dry cleaning your gown. Preservation involves wrapping the dress in acid-free tissue paper and placing it in an acid-free archival preservation chamber. After preservation, store your box in a cool, dark, and dry environment. If you are looking to keep your dress as pristine as possible, you should consider finding a professional to preserve your wedding gown such as Madame Paulette, & Hallak. If this is something you are interested in, we recommend doing it ASAP/no longer than 6 months post wedding.

Can I repurpose my Loulette Bride dress?

Absolutely. You could hem it or even wear it again as is (no judgement over here)! Typically, we DO NOT recommend dying your dress because every wedding dress is made up of several types of fabrics and fibers. Our lining is made of recycled poly, your dress itself will be either a silk or cotton or nylon lace, and all those fibers will absorb dye differently, creating a tie dye dress rather than an evenly dyed dress. We do not offer post-wedding alterations at Loulette Bride, but any local tailor should be able to help you out!

Can I donate or resell my Loulette dress?

For sure! There are many amazing places to donate your dress, but making an extra buck after the wedding and giving your dress a second party is never a bad idea! Our favorite places to donate are Brides for a Cause, Brides Across America, and Housing Works. For resale, you can look for local bridal consignment shops in your area, or sell online at Nearly Newlywed, Preowned Wedding Dresses, Still White, or Tradesy. We do not resell dresses at Loulette Bride.
