Every Day is Earth Day

Our Mother Earth needs us to care about her every day, not just one day a year. So let’s talk about the small things we can do in our daily life and little habits we can adopt to make a big, global difference!

Curate Your Closet!

You guys know I talk about this one a LOT, but we need to rethink how we buy and collect clothing. Instead of looking to “buy new things,” look at your closet as a collection of pieces that you carefully curate. Do not buy things because they are inexpensive; buy them because you LOVE them. While curating clothing means investing in pieces you love, it does not mean that you will spend more money on your closet as a whole. A curated closet means Quality over Quantity, so what you will be left with is a closet that makes you smile every time you get dressed!

De-Plastic Your Kitchen!

Have you ever gone to a grocery store, and tried to purchase plastic-free items? It is honestly horrifyingly difficult. But not impossible. While grocery shopping, try and seek out the plastic free options- unpackaged lettuce and vegetable, cartons or glass instead of plastic packaged items, etc. And obviously- bring your own reusable bags! Also, eating less meat is a simple (and healthy! and delicious!) way to eat more sustainably!

Also- get yourself the perfect reusable water bottle and coffee cup. My favorites are my Yeti for coffee and a S’well water bottle!

De-Plastic Your Products!

I have made this my MISSION over the past few years! I have done the research and trials for you, and here are my personal favorites:

Blueland household cleaner Dishwasher Tablets, and foaming handsoap refill tablets

Cleancult liquid dishsoap refill (comes in a carton!)

Public Goods Shampoo Bar, Bamboo Toothbrush, and Walnut Sponge

HiBar Conditioner Bar

Schmidt’s Body Soap

Dropps Laundry Detergent Pods

Lola Cardboard Tampons and some Thinx panties (try and replace your disposable panty liners with Thinx if possible!)

Who Gives a Crap Toilet Paper

Compostable garbage bags

As a sparkling water addict, I am obsessed with my SodaStream

Replace your paper towels with cotton dish towels and rags

Replace your disposable babywipes with a Tushy Bidet (if you feel the need!)

Compost!

For us city folk, all you need to do is find out where your neighborhood compost is here, and start doin’ it! The best way is to keep your food scraps in your freezer until compost day!

Go paperless on all bills!

Just go to your accounts and make sure you are set to paperless!

Mend Your Clothing, Fix Your Furniture!

Go to a tailor! Fix pieces that you love! Sew that button back on! Add a cute patch to your favorite pair of jeans! YouTube how to fix that wheel on your rolling chair! Love what you have!

Shop Vintage, Secondhand, Thrift, and Support Small Designers!

Go to cool thrift stores, go to vintage fairs, find designers you love, get to know how and where they make their clothes, and support them! Vintage and thrift shopping is basically a treasure hunt!

These things all listed out sound like a lot. But if we slowly change our habits, they will become our new normal.

Happy Earth Day, today and every day!
